After a decent run at theatres, ‘Ghoomer’ is finally set to release on OTT. The film did garner some great reviews, and the buzz for its digital release is also quite good. Talking to Prateek Sur, Shabana Azmi opens up about how audiences will connect to her character, how Saiyami Kher’s character resonates with the audiences and how uniquely fulfilling it was for her to play the character of Kher’s grandmom in the movie.

Excerpts:

What do you hope audiences, especially young people, will take away from Anina’s (Saiyami Kher) story?

It will go straight to people’s hearts. There is not a single person I know who has seen the film and not been immensely moved by it.

In your opinion, what makes Anina’s journey and the film’s storytelling resonate with people, irrespective of their background or interests in cricket?

It is very elevating to watch a young person fight all adversity and come away victorious. Plus, Saiyami Kher has put her heart and soul into Anina to make her believable and relatable.

What did you find uniquely fulfilling about the character you played in the movie?

She is funny and warm - an understated but emotionally interesting mix.
