'Mission Raniganj' Vs 'Thank You For Coming' Box Office: Akshay Kumar Starrer Witnesses Huge Jump, Bhumi Pednekar's Film Shows Slow Growth On Day 2

On Friday, October 6, 'Mission Raniganj' and 'Thank You For Coming' clashed at the box office. The former stars Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra and the latter stars Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh and Kusha Kapila.

Akshay Kumar starrer didn't have a great opening but on Saturday, it saw a huge jump of 69%. As per reports, it earned Rs 4.70 crore nett. So, the total collection of 'Mission Raniganj' stands at Rs 7.5 crore. The early estimates suggest that the film might make around Rs 5.35 crore on day 3. 

'Mission Raniganj' is based on the true life event of the late Jaswant Singh Gill. Akshay has played the titular character. He led India's first successful coal mine rescue mission in November 1989. It is directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh and Ajay Kapoor. The rescue thriller also stars Kumud Mishra, Pavan Malhotra, Ravi Kishan, Varun Badola, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Sharma and Virendra Saxena among others. 

Akshay’s last release was 'OMG 2', with Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam and it made a collection of Rs 150.17 crore. 

Talking about Bhumi starrer 'Thank You Forr Coming', on day 2, the film has shown a slow growth as it collected Rs 1.56 crore. The total collection now stands at Rs 2.62 crore nett.

The film is directed by Karan Boolani and backed by Rhea Kapoor along with Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor under Balaji Motion Pictures. The comedy-drama also stars Karan Kundrra, Anil Kapoor and Shibani Bedi. 

'Thank You For Coming' is the only Hindi feature film that was selected for a grand gala world premiere at the 46th Toronto International Film Festival 2023 on September 15, 2023, at the prestigious Roy Thomson Hall.
