Brevis hit three sixes and as many fours to smash a 22-ball fifty against the KKR outfit. The onslaught came in the 11th over of the Chennai Super Kings' run-chase of 180.

Brevis was eventually out for a well-made 52 in the 13th over when he was dismissed by Varun Chakaravarthy caught by Rinku Singh. Speaking of the Proteas batter, he was slotted in by CSK as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season.

The 21-year-old is known for his aggressive batting and is dubbed to be the next AB de Villiers, purely due to his resemblance in style and flair in batting like ABD's.

The IPL confirmed the signing in an official release, stating, “Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed South Africa’s Dewald Brevis as a replacement for the injured Gurjapneet Singh for the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.”
