Stones were pelted, yet again, at Vande Bharat Express in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki on Sunday shattering a window of a coach. The incident occurred near Safedabad Railway Station in Barabanki when the train was travelling from Gorakhpur to Lucknow, where it reached around 10:40 a.m.

Following the incident, the Railway Police Force (RPF) escorted a team to the site and upon investigation, they did not find any unruly elements or witnesses at the scene, according to a report by India Today. Further, the team informed the control room alerting them about the incident.

However, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code causing damage to government property and endangering the lives of passengers by causing damage to public property. The Barabanki Railway Police also initiated an investigation into the matter.

This is not the first time when such an incident has happened. Earlier, in July, a group of people pelted stones at the Vande Bharat Express near Ayodhya, cracking its windowpanes as they vented their anger days after the train mowed down a herd of goats, police said. Three men were arrested in this regard. Around the same time, stones were thrown at the Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express in Karnataka, causing minor damage to a windowpane in one of the chair cars.

In February, six windows of the Chennai-Mysuru Vande Bharat Express were damaged due to stone-throwing in Bengaluru, prompting the South Western Railway (SWR) to increase patrolling in areas where such incidents have been reported.
