Encouraged by their growing influence in Canada, individuals sympathetic to the Khalistani cause have become increasingly brazen in their efforts to intimidate Hindu minorities. Numerous incidents of temple vandalism have been documented, as confirmed by individuals familiar with the situation.
"The open threats by Khalistanis to the physical security of Indian missions and diplomats in Canada is a very serious development and challenges the obligation of Canada under the Vienna Convention," a senior government officer who's closely monitoring the situation said, requesting anonymity, as reported by NDTV
The officer remarked that there seem to be varying criteria for assessing human rights.

"Voices from Canada are very strong on even trivial issues in Punjab, while there has been a complete silence on intimidation, violence, drug trafficking and extortion by PKEs sitting in Canada, affecting both countries," the officer added.
Today, in a high-level meeting of intelligence agencies, a range of topics were addressed, as confirmed by individuals with knowledge of the situation.
These discussions encompassed issues such as the lenient treatment of Khalistani elements, resulting in the displacement of moderate, pro-India Sikhs from prominent gurdwaras in Canada due to the influence and resources wielded by pro-Khalistani extremists.
Intelligence agencies maintain comprehensive dossiers that highlight the significant toll on Punjab due to extortion schemes operated from Canada. Canada-based criminals facilitate the transportation of drugs from Pakistan using drones and distribute them throughout Punjab. A portion of the proceeds from these activities is funneled back to Khalistani extremists residing in Canada.

"Over a period of years, Khalistani extremists got further emboldened and started operating with impunity from Canada. In the last decade, links of Canada-based Khalistani extremists have emerged in more than half of the terror cases reported from Punjab," an intelligence report stated.(As reported by NDTV)
"Even in Canada, many Khalistanis are part of the drug trade. Inter-gang rivalries among gangsters from Punjab are common in Canada now. It may be recalled that a pro-India Sikh leader Ripudaman Singh Malik was killed in 2022 in Surrey itself, a murder which many say was orchestrated by Hardip Singh Nijjar," the report stated.
"But, Canadian agencies did not show any urgency in finding the real people behind it and unravelling the real conspiracy. Two local criminals who were not of Indian origin were only charged in the case," it stated.
As per the report, the responsible parties behind the targeted killings of Sikhs, Hindus, and Christians in Punjab since 2016 were Nijjar and his associates. However, Canadian authorities have not initiated any investigations against Nijjar or his compatriots, including Bhagat Singh Brar, Parry Dulai, Arsh Dalla, Lakbir Landa, and numerous others. According to sources, Canada continues to view them as political activists, even as the death toll in Punjab continues to rise.
