Wearing a handwoven ivory lehenga designed by celebrity fashion designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, she looked stunning. In an interaction with Brut, Sara addressed the host with her signature “Hello and namaste.” When asked about her Cannes debut, the 27-year-old said, “A little bit nervous. I always aspired to be here someday, I can’t believe I am here.” Explaining why she chose to wear a lehenga at Cannes, Sara said, “It (the outfit) is traditional Indian, handmade work. And I have always been very proud of my ‘Indianness’ and therefore it embodies who I am. I think it is fresh, modern but also traditional Indian.”

Talking about what Indian celebs gain from these global events, Sara said, “I think, of course, global recognition and I think the world is becoming a smaller and smaller place and I think this amalgamation of cultures is beautiful. I think it is lovely that we can come here and learn so much, watch international films, and bring our personality, our culture to you guys.”
