On the second day of the India Couture Week (ICW), renowned fashion designer Ritu Kumar showcased her magical fashion creations, and the ever-gorgeous Aditi Rao Hydari graced the runway as the showstopper.

After proving her sartorial sense at Cannes this year, Aditi recently walked the ramp for Siddartha Tytler, and now she turned showstopper for Ritu Kumar. Nonetheless, she looked like a dream in an enchanting ivory ensemble, and people all over social media could not help but call her a "princess" and a "beauty queen".

For her look, Aditi's lehenga attire featured a jacket-style blouse with full sleeves, featuring a V-neckline and a double collar. Her blouse, adorned with intricate handwork and heavy embroidery, had mirror detailing and was a perfect example of outstanding craftsmanship. She paired it with an ivory lehenga, and the outfit, designed by Ritu Kumar, showcased the rich heritage textiles with a touch of modernity.

Meanwhile, coming to Ritu Kumar,  before anyone else there was Ritu Kumar, the OG of Indian Fashion. The lexicon of the Ritu Kumar design aesthetic is so entrenched in Indian fashion, that it has become ubiquitous and you don’t even know you are looking at it.  It’s the vintage patina of vegetable colour, the layout design of the kurta, the balance of scale in paisley and buti, the finesse of the dabka gold thread curved around a flower motif.

This season, Ritu Kumar’s legacy stays intact while the mood mirrors the style of today’s India. The collection encapsulates a new feminine aesthetic through heritage textiles and nuanced classicism on Dresses, Jackets, Capes and Anarkalis. The complexity of the glittering kasab and floral kashidakari are laid out with couture tailoring which makes the collection timeless and familiar while paving the way for what’s to come.
