India skipper Rohit Sharma became the sixth batter from his country and the 15th overall to reach 10,000 ODI runs on Tuesday.

Rohit accomplished the feat during India's Asia Cup Super 4 match versus Sri Lanka.

The India captain smashed a six off Sri Lanka's Kasun Rajitha in the seventh over of the game, a day after Virat Kohli became the quickest-ever batter to reach 13,000 runs in a record 267 ODI innings.

Rohit completed his 10,000th run in 241 innings, which is the second fastest time in history, trailing only Kohli's 205 innings.

Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs), Virat Kohli (13,026), Sourav Ganguly (11,363), Rahul Dravid (10,889), and MS Dhoni (10,773) are the other Indians in the 10,000-run club.

As the only player in history to have achieved three double century in 50-overs cricket, Rohit also owns the record for most runs in an innings (264) which he scored against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens in November 2014.

Rohit scored 209 against Australia in his first ODI double ton in November 2013. Four years later, he hit another double century against Sri Lanka, this time in Mohali in December 2017.

With 30 ODI centuries, Rohit is tied for third with former Australia captain Ricky Ponting in terms of most ODI hundreds.

He is also third on the list of batters in the format with the most sixes.
