This is absolutely wild! Sawan Barwal has just rewritten the Indian marathon record and powered his way to silver at the Asian Games.

Barwal clocked 2:11:37, smashing his own National Record by 21 seconds and setting a new personal best in the process. He stayed with the lead pack until around the 35km mark before making his move in the closing stages, opening up a gap over China’s Feng Peiyou in the final seven kilometres.

Japan’s Ichitaka Yamashita held on for gold in 2:10:49, finishing 48 seconds ahead of Barwal, while Feng Peiyou took bronze in 2:12:13.

And there is history here too. Barwal becomes only the fourth Indian man to win an Asian Games medal in the marathon, following Chhota Singh, Surat Mathur and H K Seetharam. It is also India’s first marathon medal at the Asian Games since Seetharam’s bronze in 1982.

Kartik Karkera, the other Indian in the 19-man field, finished 17th in 2:22:41.

What a run from Barwal. A National Record, a personal best and an Asian Games silver medal.

Sawan Barwal has added his name to the Asian Games marathon history books, winning silver with a new National Record of 2:11:37.

He is also the only Indian man to win an Asian Games marathon medal outside India, with all three previous Indian medallists claiming their medals in New Delhi.

Lakshya Sen’s Asian Games campaign is over.

The Indian shuttler pushed Loh Kean Yew all the way in a three-game battle, but the former World Champion found the decisive edge when it mattered most. After splitting the opening two games, the Singaporean stepped up the pressure in the decider and opened up a clear lead.

Lakshya tried to stay in the contest, but a lift that drifted beyond the backline handed Loh six match points. He needed only one.

Lakshya then sent his return into the net, bringing the match to a close as Loh Kean Yew secured a 21-12, 15-21, 21-14 victory and knocked the Indian out in the men’s singles Round 2.

Tejaswin Shankar produced the best long jump of the decathlon field, clearing 7.53m in the second event to collect 942 points.

Thowfeeq Noushad was not far behind, with his 7.37m effort earning him 903 points and the third-best score in the event.

After two events, China’s Chen Xinghua leads the overall standings with 1,842 points, while Tejaswin is second on 1,807. Thowfeeq sits fifth with 1,759 points.

Tejaswin Shankar has made a solid start to the shot put, the third event of the men’s decathlon.

His first attempt measures 13.16m, which is the second-best throw so far. The effort earns him 677 points, taking his overall tally to 2,484 points and moving him into the lead in the decathlon standings.

Another shooting medal for India at the Asian Games!

The Indian trio of Tilottama Sen, Vidarsa K. Vinod Kochalumkal and Ashi Chouksey finished second in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions team qualification, posting a score of 1,763 (90X) to secure the silver medal.

There is more to come in the individual event, with Tilottama Sen and Vidarsa K. Vinod also making it through to the final.

And we are underway in the women’s kabaddi final, with India and Iran locked in an early battle.

The two sides are trading points and are currently level at 7-7, with neither team managing to establish an early advantage.

A heartbreaking finish for Velavan Senthilkumar and Joshna Chinappa, who settle for the bronze medal after a dramatic mixed doubles semifinal against Hong Kong, China’s Lee Ka Yi and Tang Ming Hong.

The Indian pair were leading 10-7 in the decider and had four match points, but could not close it out. Lee and Tang fought back brilliantly to save all four and force the match to a tense finish.

There was also controversy at 10-10, when the Indians appeared to have won the point and started celebrating. The officials called for a replay, indicating that the early celebration may have distracted the Hong Kong pair from reaching the ball.

Lee and Tang eventually held their nerve to win 2-1 (11-10, 2-11, 11-10), sending Velavan and Joshna into the bronze-medal finish.

This final is starting to swing India’s way.

Pooja picks up a crucial point, leaving just one Iranian player on the mat. India then pounce on the opportunity as Bhavna Devi makes the tackle on the raider to complete an all-out on Iran.

India have now opened up a 15-10 lead in the women’s final.

Nikita piles on the pressure with another successful raid, but the action is followed by yet another review.

The officials take a long time to check the raid, with the delay stretching on so long that the Indian team begin warming up on the mat while they wait for the decision.

The points appear to have gone India’s way after the lengthy review, and India now lead 22-15.

Iran have managed to pull a few points back just before the break.

Atena Madadi produces a superb ankle hold on Sanju, bringing the Indian raider to a standstill and giving Iran a much-needed point. The final raid of the half comes from Pooja, but she returns without a point.

And that brings us to half-time.

It has been a tense opening 20 minutes, with plenty of reviews along the way, but India remain in control at 22-16.

The final 15 minutes of this gold-medal battle are coming up.

And we are back underway in the women’s kabaddi final.

Iran have come out strongly after the break, picking up two points to cut into India’s lead. Sanju responds with a successful raid, though, keeping India ahead.

India now lead 23-19, with the gap down to four points.

Tilottama Sen’s medal hopes are over.

The Indian shooter records a 9.4 with her final shot, taking her total to 337.3 and eliminating her from the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions final. She finishes fourth, with Vidarsa K. Vinod having earlier bowed out in fifth.

Carlo Paalam comes out firing in the second round, keeping the pressure on Jadumani Singh and using his speed to make the Indian miss repeatedly.

Paalam is finding success on the counter, landing clean touches as Jadumani is forced back towards the ropes. Jadumani does manage to land a few counters of his own and earns a warning, but the Filipino’s sustained pressure is starting to take its toll, with Jadumani increasingly resorting to clinches.

Paalam’s right hook causes problems towards the end of the round, although Jadumani responds with another counter.

Two judges score the second round in Jadumani’s favour, but Paalam still holds a 5-0 overall lead heading into the final round.

Iran are refusing to let India pull away, with Zahra Karimi coming up with a series of clutch tackles to keep the deficit under control.

India pick up a bonus point despite Iran completing a successful tackle, but Iran respond immediately with an all-out. Atena Madadi adds two more points to the tally, and suddenly the final has become a one-point game.

India lead 27-26 with just eight minutes left on the clock. This is getting very tense.

Pooja finds herself in a tricky situation as Iran look to tackle her, but the Indian raider manages to evade the challenge and comes away with a crucial point.

Just two minutes remain, and India are doing enough to keep Iran at arm’s length. They lead 36-31 and are now largely opting for empty raids, happy to run down the clock rather than take unnecessary risks.

India’s women’s kabaddi team have won the Asian Games 2026 gold medal, defeating Iran 37-34 in a thrilling final. With just a minute remaining, Iran needed to find points to stay in the contest, but India’s defence stood firm as Aynaz was tackled, effectively sealing the result.

India held their nerve in a tense finish to secure the gold, while Iran pushed them all the way and made the Indian team work hard for the victory.

Anahat Singh has a mountain to climb now.

The Indian was right in the contest in the second game, but Satomi Watanabe once again found a way to edge ahead. From 9-10, Anahat earned two strokes that gave her a chance to steal the game, but Watanabe soaked up the pressure and eventually closed it out 13-11.

The Japanese player now has a 2-0 lead (11-9, 13-11), with both games decided by the smallest of margins.

There is an added twist here. In their only previous meeting earlier this year, Watanabe came from 0-2 down to beat Anahat. The Indian now needs to turn the tables and produce a comeback of her own if she is to reach the final.

Anahat Singh refuses to go quietly.

The Indian saves two match balls before snatching the third game 12-10 from Satomi Watanabe. The Japanese player was right at the finish line, but Anahat somehow keeps the door open.

It is now 2-1 to Watanabe, and this semifinal is very much alive.

Anahat Singh is not done yet!

The Indian teenager continues to throw everything at Satomi Watanabe, taking on the Japanese player with aggressive shot-making rather than getting dragged into long rallies.

Anahat turns up the pressure when it matters most, winning five points on the trot to close out the fourth game and force a decider.

It is now 2-2. What a comeback this is.

Anahat Singh has completed a stunning comeback to reach the Asian Games women's singles final, beating Satomi Watanabe 3-2 (9-11, 13-11, 12-10, 11-6, 11-3).

After taking an early 7-2 lead in the decider, the Indian teenager raced to 10-3 and needed just one match point to seal the win. Anahat becomes the first Indian woman to reach the Asian Games singles final.

Abhay Singh is off the mark in his semifinal, taking the opening game 11-3. The Indian and his opponent stay close in the early exchanges, but Abhay soon finds his rhythm and pulls away to take a 1-0 lead.

Indian squash are guaranteed a second singles finalist at the Asian Games.

Abhay Singh has powered past Pakistan's Muhammad Irfan 11-3, 12-10, 11-6 in around 30 minutes to seal his place in the men's singles final.

After taking control of the opening game, Abhay had to work harder in the second before closing out the match in straight games. His victory also makes him only the second Indian man after Saurav Ghosal to reach an Asian Games singles final.

The gold medal is now within touching distance, with the winner also earning the Olympic qualification spot. Abhay will meet either reigning champion Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia or Pakistan's Noor Zaman in the final.

There will be no surfing action today, with the events postponed on September 26 following a routine review of the weather and surfing conditions.

Top-ranked national surfer Kamali Prakash and Sugar Shanti were scheduled to compete in the women's shortboard Round 2, but their heats will now have to wait.

The stage is set in Nagoya as India get their fourth Pool A game underway against hosts Japan.

The formalities are out of the way, with both national anthems completed. India are sporting their familiar orange jerseys, while the hosts are in blue.

India have been in a goal-scoring mood across their opening three matches, but this is a different challenge altogether. Japan are expected to provide a much sterner test, so India will need to be sharp from the very first whistle.

India have found an opening in the match as Abhishek scored a field goal in the 15th minute to take a 1-0 lead.

Priya has already taken a 1-0 lead against South Korea's Yeonji Oh, forcing a standing count-out after a straight punch.

Umpires have unanimously favoured Priya.

India's Priya produced a stellar performance in the women's 60kg Round of 16 bout at the Nishio Gymnasium, securing a dominant 5-0 unanimous decision victory over South Korea's OH Yeonji. With this win Priya has booked her spot in quarterfinals

It's a fierce, neck-and-neck battle with neither side giving an inch, setting the stage for a dramatic, down-to-the-wire thriller. In the men's kabaddi final, India holds a narrow 6-5 lead over Iran after the first 8 minutes of play.

India has doubled its lead against Japan in Pool A at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium, moving 2-0 ahead. Captain Harmanpreet Singh struck brilliantly in the 40th minute off a penalty corner (PC) to extend India's advantage, building on Abhishek's earlier opening goal.

Jaideep and Sunil have executed a super tackle, saving India from an all-out.

Jaideep pounced on the raider's leg, while Sunil came in from the front and held the Iranian tight to prevent him from slipping, earning two crucial points.
