New Zealand, on Friday, amassed their highest-ever T20I total against the Men In Green by registering 226/8 in 20 overs in the first T20I at Eden Park in Auckland. Also, the score of 226 was also the first time that the BlackCaps have scored over 200 against the Men In Green since their first meeting back in 2007.

After being sent into bat by the visitors on a flat track at Auckland, the Kiwis started off nervously. Skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi scalped Devon Conway as the home team took 6 runs in the first 2 overs.

However, Finn Allen hit 24 runs off Shaheen's over as the home team finally got into their groove. Kane Williamson scored 57 off 42 balls before Abbas Afridi, a debutant, dismissed him. In the middle overs, all-rounder Daryl Mitchell striked hard as he bludgeoned the Pakistani bowlers.

Mitchell scored a handy 61 off 21 balls to take the home team towards a huge total. Mark Chapman (26) and Glenn Phillips (19) too contributed lower down the order as New Zealand posted a massive 226.
