The Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been a happy hunting ground for the Indian cricket team. Having routed Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the first Test at Mohali, India once again started as favourites on Saturday. But the story was different. Opting to bat first, India never got off to a flying start. The hosts lost Mayank Agarwal to a run out before spin bamboozled them as Rohit Sharma, Hanuma Vihari and Virat Kohli, all fell before tea. With Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja also following suit, the responsibility came under Shreyas Iyer's shoulders. The right-hander mixed defence and attack to perfection as his 92 helped India cross 250-run mark on a challenging track. In reply, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah were all over the Sri Lankans in the final session with their top three out for single digits. Angelo Mathews provided some resistance with his 43 but was undone by a Bumrah delivery at the end of the day.
