India enjoyed its single-day biggest haul of medals on day 6 of the Commonwealth Games 2022 by pocketing a silver and four bronze. Judoka Tulika Maan settled for the silver in the women's +78 kg final, while India's weightlifting campaign concluded with two bronze (Lovepreet Singh in men's 109 kg and Gurdeep Singh in men's +109 kg) on Wednesday, taking to the tally to a record 10, one more than the last edition. Squash legend Saurav Ghosal claimed his back-to-back Commonwealth Games medal by winning the bronze medal playoff. Late in the night, Tejaswin Shankar made athletics history by winning India's first-ever medal, a bronze, in the high jump.

However, it was a mixed day for Indian boxers in Birmingham. World champion Nikhat Zareen (women's 50 kg), Mohammed Hussamuddin (men's 50 kg) and Nitu Ghanghas (women's 48 kg) assured medals with quarter-final wins. But Lovlina Borgohain (women's 70 kg) and Ashish Kumar (men's 80 kg) lost their respective bouts. In the team events, both the men's and hockey teams registered emphatic wins, while the women's cricket team qualified for the semis after thrashing Barbados by 100 runs in a must-win game.
