The fourth day of the third India Vs England Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series has taken an exciting turn. The Ben Stokes-led England have set a 193-run target for India and are trying to defend that at Lord's Cricket Ground.
Let's take a look at what happened on 13 July, which is related to India's tour of England 2025.
Kumble Praises Siraj!
Mohammed Siraj delivered an impressive performance on the fourth day of the third Test between India and England at Lord's, taking two early wickets, dismissing Ben Duckett and Ollie Pope. This put the hosts in a tough spot after both teams were tied at the end of the first innings.
Former India great Anil Kumble praised Siraj for his relentless effort. “He consistently hits the deck hard and bowls in the right areas. In the last Test, he took five wickets without Bumrah, and this time he complemented Bumrah well. Even yesterday, he was the most fired up while taking his turn to bowl,” Kumble remarked.
Pietersen Backs Aggression In Test Cricket
Former England batter Kevin Pietersen emphasised the importance of being aggressive on the field during Test cricket matches. He felt that the incident between Zak Crawley and Shubman Gill on Day 3, just before stumps, should serve as a 'perfect recipe' for reviving interest in Test cricket, which he believes is fading.
Known for his candid opinions, Pietersen took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his thoughts. He stated, "Test cricket needs a bit of needle. Finger-pointing and some aggression are the perfect recipe for an action-packed day today and tomorrow. When tempers flare and emotions run high, it’s entertaining, and I LOVE IT!"
His comments highlight his belief that such incidents are not just distractions but essential elements that bring drama and intensity to the longer format of the game.
Target Set For India!
'Bazball' took a back seat on Day 4 of the ongoing Test cricket match between India and England at the Lord's Cricket Ground, when India restricted hosts to 192 runs in the second innings. Washington Sundar took four wickets for India. Now, India need 193 runs to win this match.
Joe Root was the highest scorer for England in the second innings with a score of 40 runs off 96 balls. Ben Stokes also made 33 off 96 balls.
Lord's Pictures On Day 1
In this photo, taken by sports photographer Richard Heathcote, a multiple exposure shot captures key moments from the first day of the Lord's Test between England and India.
The image features both teams performing their national anthems before the start of the match. It also shows the wicketkeeper attempting to catch the ball, along with other fielders engaged in their roles. The effect creates the illusion that multiple Test matches are being played on the same pitch, when in reality, it is just one.
OTD In 2002!
On this day in 2002, the Indian cricket team achieved an iconic victory in the NatWest final, marking 23 years since that famous win. Sourav Ganguly took off his shirt and waved it from the Lord's balcony. This iconic celebration was in response to England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff taking off his shirt and celebrating after a win in Mumbai earlier that year.
The match featured a remarkable partnership between Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif, which played a crucial role in guiding the team to victory over England at Lord's, securing the NatWest Series title.
