PM Modi Invites G20 Delegates To Witness 2024 Lok Sabha Polls, Says Terrorism Divides While Tourism Can Unite

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said Tourism can unit while as terrorism can only divide society.

Modi, who is in US, virtually addressed inaugural session of G20 tourism ministerial meeting in Goa.

He said: "You should visit the festival of democracy in the mother of democracy. Nearly a billion voters will be celebrating this festival for over a month next year.”

Modi also said visiting India is not just about sightseeing, but it's an immersive experience.

He also said through tourism world society can be united.

“Terrorism divides but tourism unites. Tourism can create harmonious society”.

He also said : “In last 9 years, we laid special emphasis on developing tourism sector, kept it focal point of our reforms”.

Modi also stressed on the use of emerging AI technology.

“We should make greater use of emerging technologies like AI and augmented reality to drive innovation,” he said. 

Modi also invited G20 delegates to witness 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“Come witness festival of democracy,” he said.

Earlier, UNWTO supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to promote tourism in India, saying the country is rich in culture with a "huge potential" to attract more investment in the sector.

World Tourism Organization Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, quoted by news agency PTI expressed his delight over the coincidence.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations with a mandate to promote responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.

G20 delegates from several countries on Wednesday performed yoga 'asanas' on the premises of the Raj Bhavan in Goa to mark the day.
