In a latest development in connection with the recent communal clashes that ensued in Haryana's Nuh, police have traced at least 12 social media groups linked to Pakistan which allegedly played a pivotal role fuelling the communal tension in Nuh.

According to police, the groups are being run across diverse social media platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and Telegram with thousands of followers from across the Mewat region of Haryana and Rajasthan.

It has been reported that the groups are not only responsible for instigating mobs to “give it all” for the community during the riots, but the users were also elated after the clash and flooded the groups with celebratory messages.

A majority of the suspects nabbed have been found to be active members of these social media groups.

According to Nuh SP Narendra Bijarnia, "We have recovered videos of clashes from these accounts, which helped us identify the suspects,” said

Tracking the Telegram groups was a real challenge for the investigators as a majority of these left behind no digital footprints or records.

Investigators have revealed that the concerned social media accounts are also under the radar of national security agencies.

The Rajasthan Police are also in search of  similar accounts with numerous followers in Alwar and Bharatpur districts.

These accounts declare cow vigilantes as “kafirs” and urge the local Meo population to punish them.
