Two educational institutes in Delhi and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in Mumbai received bomb threats on Tuesday morning. Inspections in all three locations by bomb squads and security personnel found nothing suspicious.

Delhi police said that St Thomas School in Dwarka and St Stephen's College in the North Campus of Delhi University had received bomb threats via email. BSE also received a threatening email claiming that four RDX IED bombs had been planted in its tower building and would explode at 3 PM.

"St. Thomas School in the Dwarka area of Delhi and St. Stephen's College of the University of Delhi received bomb threats on Tuesday. Delhi Police Bomb Squad, Dog Squad, Delhi Fire Brigade team, and Special Staff team are on the spot," said a statement by Delhi police.

"St. Thomas School and St. Stephen's College have been evacuated. So far, the police have not found anything suspicious at either place," added the police.

Regarding the BSE bomb threat, the Mumbai Police, in a statement to the ANI, said, “Nothing suspicious was found”. The BSE premise was thoroughly inspected by local police and Bob Squad teams.

On Monday, similar threats were received at three schools in Delhi — Navy School in Chanakyapuri, the CRPF School in Dwarka, and one in Rohini. Also, the Golden Temple in Amritsar received similar email threats.

The authorities in these institutions informed the police promptly. “Our teams were dispatched immediately in coordination with the bomb squad,” said a DFS official in regards to bomb threats in Delhi schools on Monday.

In February, private schools and a Delhi University college received similar threats in Delhi, which were later found to be hoaxes. Authorities are currently investigating the source of these emails and whether the incidents are linked.

Incidents of bomb threats have risen in the recent past. Such threats have targeted aeroplanes, eminent tourist spots including the Taj Mahal, stadiums and educational institutions. In the last two years, more than 500 educational institutions in the country have received bomb threats. All of these threats were found to be hoaxes after investigation.
