Tesla CEO and the world’s richest person Elon Musk on Saturday deleted the tweet he posted on X on Thursday claiming that the U.S. President Donald Trump was in the Epstein files.
Musk had mentioned, it is the time to drop the “big bomb.”
“Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.” “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out,” he added.
The relationship between the two heavyweights went sour over the past week after Musk publicly criticised Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ - while cracks had been developing over the last two months as Musk in April announced that he would be stepping back from DOGE.
"Starting next month, I will be allocating far more of my time to Tesla," he said.
By May, he had stated that he would be spending less time in politics, “in terms of political spending, I'm going to do a lot less in the future.”
By the end of May, the Trump administration had announced Musk’s departure procedure.
After nine months of lauding each other - the two are now at loggerheads. Reportedly, there was initially a possibility of reconciliation but Trump on Saturday rejected the idea, saying to ABC News, “You mean the man who has lost his mind?”, adding that while Musk wants to speak to Trump, he was "not particularly" interested in talking to him.
Speaking to CNN, Trump said, “I am not even thinking about Elon. He’s got a problem. The poor guy’s got a problem.”
While the president showed reluctance, Musk had hinted at reconciliation. Responding to Bill Ackman’s call for the two to “Make Peace for the benefit of our great country,” Musk replied on X, “You’re not wrong.”
In the ongoing feud, Musk's business empire reportedly lost a valuation of over 150 billion US dollars and Trump faced allegations that could possible risk his position as the president.
Musk's father, Errol Musk, while speaking to Al Arabiya English said that the feud was elephant bulls or alphas having a go at each other.
"I haven't spoken to him, but I did send him a message, you know, telling him to make sure this fizzles out," he said. "Trump, of course, will prevail, because he is has been voted in by the majority of the people in America."
"When people have been through a great deal of stress… eventually people reach a point where they lash out,"Errol Musk said. "Even at the highest levels, people struggle to find common ground."
