Following a fall at his French Riviera home, British singer Elton John was hospitalized and treated overnight for minor injuries at the orthopedic department of Princess Grace Hospital Center in Monaco, close to his home in Nice.
“It is just a precautionary measure”, a source close to the incident shared with Today.com, adding, “Soon after basic checkups, he was discharged and is back home in good health”.
The British singer had gone to France to relax after successfully completing his final tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road.
The tour, which had begun in September 2018, had become one of his longest due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Originally scheduled to conclude in 2021, the tour after many ups and downs, finally commenced on July 08 in Stockholm’s Tele2 Arena.
In total, Elton John played 330 concerts, including a memorable headline set at the Glastonbury festival. Also, during the break from touring during the pandemic, he recorded an album called “The Lockdown Sessions” for which he collaborated with artists Lil Nas X, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Wonder, Metallica, and Gorillaz. Another song by Dua Lipa “Cold Heart” which incorporated some aspects of previous hit songs of John, topped the charts in the UK and 12 other countries.
Hearing the news of the singer being hospitalized, fans displayed their worry on social media. A similar situation arose when John faced worsening health conditions in 2022. Providing a clarification and some respite to his fans, the singer posted on social media saying, “The true story is that I’m in top health, loving my shows and playing and singing at my very best. I give 100% every night and never want to disappoint, especially after everyone has waited so long to get back to seeing shows. Your response to every show has been phenomenal and I’m loving every minute of it.”
The fans went frenzy when the singer was seen using a wheelchair. John added that he was using a wheelchair following a concert to reduce stress on his body.
“After another rousing 2.5-hour show, we arrived at Leipzig airport, just before curfew, to find part of the airport had closed,” he had said. “It was an extremely long walk to get to the plane, so my team kindly laid on a wheelchair so I could rest my hip after doing the show. That’s all folks,” he had clarified on Instagram.
