US President Donald Trump on Tuesday slammed both Iran and Israel over accusations of ceasefire violations. Asking Israel to refrain from bombing Iran, Trump in his latest post on the Truth Social platform, said, "Israel. Do not drop those bombs. If you do, it is a major violation. Bring your pilots home, now! Donald J. Trump, President of the United States."
Trump on Monday brokered the peace talks between Iran and Israel, a day after the US struck three nuclear facilities in Iran, a senior White House official told Reuters. According to reports, Trump held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while his team, including Vice President JD Vance allegedly held discussions with Iran.
However, expressing clear dissatisfaction over the mutual ceasefire violation allegations, Trump told reporters, "I didn’t like that Israel ‘unloaded’ immediately after agreeing to a ceasefire", while adding, "I’m not happy with Iran either."
On Tuesday, the US President claimed that soon after the peace deal was brokered, Israel 'dropped a load of bombs, the likes of which I’ve never seen before'. He also mentioned that he was happy with neither Israel nor Iran, as both have violated the ceasefire.
"They (Iran) violated, but Israel violated it too. As soon as we made the deal, Israel came out and dropped a load of bombs... We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing", Trump said.
"I am not happy that Israel is going out now. There was one rocket that I guess was fired overboard, and it missed its target. Now Israel is going out. These guys gotta calm down. Ridiculous. I didn't like the fact that Israel unloaded right after we made the deal... That's not what we want", he further added.
Later, he reportedly confirmed that, respecting the ceasefire, the Israeli planes were going to "turn around and head home, while doing a friendly plane wave to Iran.”
This followed shortly after Israel claimed Iran violated the ceasefire and fired a wave of missiles at the country. Most of these missiles were intercepted with zero casualties. However, a missile was fired at a residential building in Beersheba, leading to the death of 4 people. The general staff of Iran’s armed forces has denied the Israeli claim.
The ceasefire agreement was declared by Trump following the Iranian attack on US air bases in Qatar and Iraq on Monday. Both sides had agreed to the US-brokered ceasefire.
However, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi had initially denied agreeing to the ceasefire. "There is NO 'agreement' on any ceasefire or cessations of military operations," he posted on X while adding that a ceasefire would be mutual if the Israeli regime stopped their attack by 4 AM.
"Iran will have no intention to continue our response afterwards", he said.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Tuesday morning to have agreed to this ceasefire agreement proposed by Trump.
