Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei on Wednesday made a series of posts on X stating that, “The battle begins,” amid escalating tensions with Israel. The posts were made following United States President Donald Trump’s threats demanding an ‘unconditional surrender” from Tehran.
Khamenei further posted that “We must give a strong response to the terrorist Zionist regime. We will show the Zionists no mercy.” The posts came moments after Iran launched two rounds of ballistic missiles on Israel on Wednesday.
Trump’s posts
Donald Trump had earlier posted on his Truth Social platform demanding an “unconditional surrender" from Iran. He asserted that the United States had full control of the Iranian skies. "Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured 'stuff.' Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA."
He also threatened Khamenei stating that "We know exactly where the so-called Supreme Leader’ is hiding,” Trump said. “He is an easy target, but is safe there - We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin,” he added.
His final post on the matter read, “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!”
The United States is deploying more aircraft to the Middle East, reported Reuters. Trump had earlier left the G7 Summit a day early citing tensions in the Middle East. Trump had also called for the evacuation of the Iranian capital.
The conflict has now entered its sixth day with both sites launching fresh attacks at regular intervals. The hostilities began when Israel attacked Iran by targeting its military leaders and nuclear infrastructure accusing it of developing nuclear weapons.
