Actor-director Rishab Shetty and 30 crew members escaped unharmed from a major boat mishap during the shooting of Kantara: Chapter 1, as per a report in PTI.
The accident happened at the Mani reservoir in the Masti Katte region of Shivamogga district when a boat capsized on location.
The shallow zone of the reservoir, near an area locally known as Melina Koppa helped in averting the tragedy.
Though there are no casualties, but cameras and other filming equipment are said to been lost to the water.
The Thirthahalli police is currently investigation the case and they also confirmed that people escaped the accident unhurt.
Theatre artist Ramadas Poojary told PTI, that making a movie on the spirits of Dakshina Kannada is always risky. He claimed that the spirits (Bhootas-Daivas) do not like the commercialisation of any activity connected to them.
He said that Rishab Shetty, who respects the spirits, has performed poojas and was given permission to make the film.
A senior crew member told the news agency that some of the crew members panicked when the boat overturned, but as it was in shallow waters, they were safe. "It shows that the spirits have blessed us in some way," he added.
Kantara Chapter 1 is one of the most-anticipated movies of the year. It is all set to hit the theatres on October 2, 2025, in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali, Hindi and English. Apart from acting, Rishab Shetty has written, and directed it.
