Jana Nayagan’s A certificate initially restricted children from watching it.
Jana Nayagan has received praise from singer and dubbing artist Chinmayi Sripada for addressing child sexual abuse in a crucial scene. After watching Vijay’s final film before his political career, Chinmayi thanked the actor and director H Vinoth for using the film to deliver a message about child safety and the need for swift action against perpetrators.
Chinmayi Sripada Praises Jana Nayagan Scene
Taking to X on Saturday, Chinmayi said the film’s focus on protecting children from sexual abuse was particularly important to her. She praised Vijay for addressing the issue on screen and thanked H Vinoth for including the scene.
“A star the stature of actor Vijay, and now the Honble CM of Tamil Nadu speaking about child sexual abuse in the film was crucial, important,” Chinmayi wrote.
She further expressed hope that children would remain safe from abuse, adding, “May the abusers end.”
What Jana Nayagan Says About Child Safety
In the scene, Vijay’s character explains the difference between good touch and bad touch to a group of children. He also encourages them to tell their parents if they experience sexual abuse so that authorities can take appropriate action against those responsible.
The message, however, comes with an irony. Jana Nayagan received an A certificate for its theatrical release, meaning viewers under 18 could not watch the film in cinemas. The film’s subsequent OTT release on ZEE5 potentially makes the scene accessible to a wider audience, including younger viewers under parental guidance.
Chinmayi has previously been vocal about sexual harassment and child safety. She became a prominent voice during India’s #MeToo movement and has continued to speak about accountability in the entertainment industry.
Jana Nayagan OTT Release And Vijay’s Political Career
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan also stars Pooja Hegde, Priyamani, Bobby Deol and Prakash Raj. The film had faced a prolonged certification battle before finally reaching cinemas.
After its theatrical run, Jana Nayagan began streaming on ZEE5 on August 21, following a four-week theatrical window.
The film marks Vijay’s final cinematic outing before his full-time political career as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.
