Telugu drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 – Sword vs Spirit—Pawan Kalyan's first film since becoming the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, hit the screens on July 24. HHVM created an immense buzz ahead of its release and as per prediction, it might become Kalyan's biggest opening. The early reviews of Hari Hara Veera Mallu are out on X (formerly known as Twitter). The period action-adventure has received mixed reactions from audience.

One user called the film "a missed opportunity for Pawan Kalyan to establish himself as a pan-India star." The user also criticised the VFX, music, and the writing, and called it a 'boring' watch. Many praised the first half good, as compared to the second half.

Pawan Kalyan is back with a theatrical release after two years and it was no less than a celebration for his admirers. He has no dearth of fans in Andhra Pradesh, and they celebrated the release of Hari Hara Veera Mallu as they rallied on the roads and outside theatres. Videos have gone viral on social media, where fans can be seen cheering, wearing shirts with Pawan Kalyan's photo imprint and rejoicing his return by dancing outside theatres and chanting slogans.

Set in the 17th century, Hari Hara Veera Mallu revolves around fictional legendary outlaw Veera Mallu, who revolts against the Mughal army and empire.

Directed by Krish and Jyothi Krisna, the film was released in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.

It also starred Bobby Deol, Nidhhi Agerwal, and Nargis Fakhri, among others in pivotal roles. Academy Award and Golden Globe winner MM Keeravani, has composed the music of the film.

Trade insiders have predicted Rs 40-crore opening for Pawan starrer in India. It might collect $3 million (Rs 25 crore) overseas, taking the global haul to Rs 70-80 crore on day 1.
