Rita Ora has been in the public eye for the longest time, not only for her music but also for her fashion looks, philanthropic activities, and acting career. She is now putting all her focus on the latter, following her marriage to acclaimed filmmaker Taika Waititi.

Though the singer is known to have a larger-than-life personality, she knows where to draw the line to differentiate professional from personal. She doesn’t disclose much of her personal life anymore, especially post her wedding.

Now, in a rare interview with Ok!, the 33-year-old singer has given some insights into her married life - from shedding light on her secretive wedding in August 2022 to revealing plans of starting a family of her own.

“I wanted to keep [the wedding] to myself for as long as I could,” explains Rita, whose relationships have been in front of cameras, which include musicians Calvin Harris and A$AP Rocky, and actor Andrew Garfield. She added, “I’ve been in the public eye for a while now and I’ve always given everything I’m part of to the public. It felt nice to have something that was a secret for a bit.”

The ‘Ritual’ singer and the ‘Thor’ director first met back in 2018 but didn’t get into a relationship until 2021. They only made it official when they confirmed that they had tied the knot a few months prior to their first wedding anniversary. “A lot of my friends were like, ‘Oh my God, we’ve missed it.’ I just told them that we will figure something out. It felt chill – because my life is not chill,” she said.

For their wedding, Rita was the one who popped the question when they were on a holiday in Palm Springs in the summer of 2022. Not long after, the couple got married in Los Angeles, in the presence of only eight people physically and their parents on a Zoom call.

When asked how she feels about being wed, she said, “Nothing much has changed in my life, I now just feel I’ve got company,” adding, “But with Taika being from there [New Zealand], it’s very important for the children to have a home.” For those unversed, Taika has two children from his previous wedding to Chelsea Winstanley.

Talking along the same lines, the singer revealed that she is open to the idea of starting a family of her own with the Oscar-winning director. “It happens when it happens. I just believe in the universe,” she said.

But as of now, Rita has been living a pretty hectic life in London but also plans to spend more time in the British capital. “Taika likes to shoot out there a lot. We will be shooting something next year,” she spilled some beans, adding, “I may or may not be working closely with my partner, but we will leave that there. Acting is a big priority for me next year. I’ll be doing a lot more of it.”

On the acting front, she has starred in ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey,’ ‘Sky’s Twist,’ and ‘Wonderwell.’ She will next be seen in ‘Descendants: The Rise Of Red,’ for which she is “excited.”
