There is a new update on Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar Ali's death. Humaira's body was recovered by police in a decomposed state, in her apartment in Karachi’s Ittehad Commercial, Phase VI on Tuesday, July 8. As per the latest report, she had been dead for several months—officials believe she died in October 2024.

Humaira, who lived alone in the apartment, was allegedly not paying rent, following which the owner reportedly filed a complaint. When police entered the apartment, they found the body in a "highly decomposed state", reported Arab News.
Officials also noticed that there were no candles or alternative power sources in her apartment and her electricity had been disconnected in October 2024 over non-payment of bills.
Investigators told the publication, "Humaira’s body is likely nine months old. She probably died between paying her last utility bills and when her electricity was disconnected in October 2024, probably due to non-payment of the bill."
The apartment where Humaira lived had no one on the same floor and one of the balcony doors was left open, as per the report in the same portal.
The neighbours returned to the building in February this year, and there was no foul smell. Another official said, "The jars had rusted, and food had expired six months ago."
The post-mortem report conducted by Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed stated the body was in a "very advanced stage of decomposition". Initially, it suggested that she had been dead for at least a month.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Syed Asad Raza told the news portal that as per Humaira's Call Detail Record (CDR), her last call was in October 2024.
Humaira's family denies claims of family had disowned her
Naveed Asghar, Humaira's brother reached Karachi and refuted media reports of family refusing to claim her body. He said, "We have come here and, after fulfilling all the legal requirements, have received the dead body."
Naveed also said that the family was "shocked' when they heard about Humaira's death. He shared that their father had said, "That is why my father said that if there is any emergency, then you can bury her there [in Karachi]."
Naveed also asked to interrogate the landlord. "Whatever matters took place with the landlord, did any of you interview him?" Naveed asked the reporters, to get more clarification on his sister's death.
