The RPF issued a warning with a list of 14 trains on which the refugees from Myanmar are mostly moving from northeastern states.

The Centre will send the biometric report collected by states to the Myanmar government through diplomatic channel, Singh said.

Rawat's remarks came days after Assam CM pitched for the implementation of a NRC across all states of the country, terming illegal immigrants as a "challenge" for the nation.

"We are aware that a large number of Rohingyas are assembled there in Bangladesh and from time-to-time some small groups did try to enter India, but I am very happy to say that we did not let them succeed," the DG said.

The case has drawn outrage as it has been seen as an attack on media freedom.

Efforts to reconnect these children with their parents have been under way since 700,000 Rohingya Muslims were expelled from Myanmar a year ago.
