The Supreme Court has allowed the Centre to proceed with the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Central Vista project after the government assured it that no construction/demolition would happen till the court decides pending pleas. The project envisages a new Parliament complex. Petitioners objected to it since it involves a land use change near Rajpath and Vijay Chowk.

Lead and nickel in drinking water and milk were primarily blamed for a mystery disease that has killed a person and left over 500 people sick in Eluru city of Andhra Pradesh. The symptoms included a bout of epilepsy for 3-5 minutes, memory loss for a few minutes, anxiety, vomiting, headache and back pain. Eluru, 58 km northeast of Vijayawada, is a paddy cultivation and aquaculture hub.

The US weapon sales to India rose from $6.2 million to $3.4-billion in the final year of the Donald Trump administration. The jump comes at a time when American sale of weapons to other countries has dipped from $55.7 billion in 2019 to $50.8 billion in 2020. The US sold weapons worth $146 million to Pakistan, though there was a freeze in any military assistance to Islamabad.
