A 19-year-old Dalit woman, who was gang-raped in a village in UP’s Hathras district two weeks ago, died at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday, prompting outrage. She had critical spinal wounds, cuts in her tongue as she bit it when the accused attempted to strangle her, and her legs were paralysed. The four suspects were arrested.

One in 15 individuals aged 10 years and above were estimated to be exposed to the new coronavirus by August, the ICMR’s second sero-survey reveals. ICMR chief Dr Balram Bhargava said loc­kdown and behavioural changes have checked Covid’s spread, but a considerable population is still vulnerable.

Flight Lieutenant Shivangi Singh will be the first IAF woman pilot to fly a Rafale multi-role fighter aircraft. She will join the Ambala-based 17 Squadron, home to the Rafale fighters. She is currently flying a MiG-21 Bison, the IAF’s oldest combat aircraft. She was commissioned into the IAF in 2017.
