WPL 2023, MI vs UPW: UP Warriorz Scalp An Important Victory As They Halt Mumbai Indians' Winning Run - In Pics
UP Warriorz survived an early hiccup to cruise to a five-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians, after the Uttar Pradesh side extracted more out of a tricky pitch in Navi Mumbai on Saturday. On a surface where the ball turned a lot and was also holding up, England's star left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone (3/15) led the way with her excellent bowling as UP Warriorz bundled out Mumbai Indians for a paltry 127. When MI batted, as many as 18 of the 20 overs were bowled by spinners, a WPL record. In reply, Warriorz lost early wickets thanks to Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt. However, Grace Harris (39) and Tahlia McGrath (38) were the main contributors with the bat for UPW, while Deepti Sharma (13 not out) and player of the match Sophie Ecclestone (16 not out) played vital knocks to give UP a crucial win in the WPL.
