Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have released a set of 12 players that include the likes of Shardul Thakur, Lockie Ferguson and Shakib Al Hasan amongst others ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Auction. Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana, Rinku Singh along with the veteran duo of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine retained by the Kolkata franchise. (IND Vs AUS Blog | IPL Trading Highlights)
Other names that were released were Litton Das, David Wiese, Narayan Jagadeesan, Mandeep Singh, Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee. With this, their auction purse is INR 32.1 crore.
Recently, former skipper Gautam Gambhir was named as the team's mentor ahead of the 2024 season.

Gambhir had led KKR to two IPL titles (2011 and 2017) before leaving them. He was recently the team mentor for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
However, LSG have roped in Aussie great Justin Langer with talks of Rahul Dravid too being mentioned around.
