1:20 PM: Hello And Welcome
Afternoon! Welcome to the live updates of the Indian Premier League 2024 Trade Window. The 10 IPL franchises have been given the deadline of November 26 to announce the players they are going to retain and release ahead of the IPL mini auction.

Preview
Franchises will be formulating their decisions to retain or release players based on two important factors: who are the fresh names available for bidding, and the mega player auction before the 2025 IPL season, where the entire squads will be revamped.

In the run-up to the auction, a few key developments have already unfolded. Star England all-rounder and Test captain Ben Stokes has opted out of IPL 2024 "to manage his workload and fitness", and that means he could well be released by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the mega auction in 2025.

Elsewhere, in a homecoming of sorts, Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as the team mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders. Gambhir was the captain when KKR won the IPL in 2012 and 2014, and was with the team as a player from 2011 to 2017.

Such is the density of high-octane action in the country that the cricketing corridors are never barren. Four days after India's gutting defeat to Australia in the final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, the Men In Blue embarked on another tussle against the Aussies, albeit in a different format - T20 internationals. The Suryakumar Yadav-led team registered a thrilling two-wicket win in the first game, and will be playing the second one on the evening of Sunday, November 26. But another exciting event will simultaneously hold enthusiasts' attention. Sunday is when the Indian Premier League 2024's trade window closes, ahead of the auction on December 19 in Dubai. All franchises will release their lists of retained and released players by the end of the day.
