6:30 pm: What captains said
Suryakumar Yadav, India Captain: We were also considering chasing because of the amount of moisture that was there last night. Going out there and scoring and then defending will be a new test for us. The recent game gave us a lot of confidence, the lads performed fantastic, and we will continue that energy forward. Captaincy is a new task and duty for me, and I'm relishing it. We're all going in with the same squad.

Matthew Wade, Australia Captain: We're going bowling. If the dew arrives later, the wicket should be all alright. You look at the figures, then come here and look at the wicket and speak with the curator. The other day, we played pretty well, although India played a bit better. It's only a matter of cleaning up a few things. Adam Zampa replaces Behrendorff, while Maxwell replaces Aaron Hardie.

6:30 pm: Weather Updates
There were some doubts about the weather in Thiruvananthapuram, but the sky is clear now and a full match with no hindrance from rain is expected.

6:30 pm: Pitch Report
It's a fantastic wicket with hardly much grass. Because the grass is in spots, the bounce may be erratic. There may be some pace and turn. Around 7:30 p.m., heavy dew is forecast. On this wicket, the call would be to chase, claimed Matthew Hayden and Murali Karthik in their pitch report.
