Hardik Pandya's potential return to Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans was the talk of the town on Indian Premier League 2024 trade deadline day. Initially rumoured to be on his way to Mumbai, Pandya, instead, surpised many when his name was among the retainees listed by Gujarat Titans. There was, though another twist in the tale; later in the day, reports confirmed that the trade was still on, with Pandya moving to Mumbai, Cameron Green going to Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat raking in a hefty sum. (IND Vs AUS Blog | IPL Trading Highlights

While Pandya's future remained uncertain, there were plenty of certainties on the Gujarat roster submitted with the autorities on trade deadline. Chief among those were Shubman Gill and Mohammed Shami, with both now among the candidates to lead the team in the aftermath of Pandya's departure. Gujarat also retained the services of Rashid Khan and David Miller, while Kane Williamson, too, remained on their books.
