George Munsey and Michael Jones are out in the middle to begin the innings. Munsey takes strike, while Dipendra Singh Airee has the new ball in hand and is set to open the attack.

That’s a tidy little start from Scotland. They’re 14 without loss after two overs, with Munsey looking comfortable on 9 off 8. Jones is easing his way in at the other end on 3 from 4. Eight came off that over, a boundary, a wide, and a couple nudged around, nothing flashy, but they’re ticking along nicely.

That’s a big over for Scotland! Three boundaries in there as they collect 11 runs and race to 36 without loss. Michael Jones is looking in terrific touch now, moving to 24 off 14, finding the gaps with ease. Munsey remains steady on 9 off 10, happy to rotate strike while Jones does the damage. Scotland off to a strong start here.

That’s the end of the Powerplay and Scotland will be pleased with that start , 52 without loss after six overs. Jones has been the aggressor with 34 off 20, while Munsey has anchored the other end on 15 from 16. No wickets lost, good tempo, and a strong foundation laid heading into the middle overs.

Another steady over for Scotland as they move to 67 without loss. Michael Jones is now right on the doorstep of a half-century, advancing to 47 off 26 with that boundary at the end of the over. He’s looked fluent throughout, timing the ball cleanly and picking his moments well. Munsey continues to play the supporting role on 17 from 22, while Scotland remain firmly in control.

Michael Jones brings up a fluent half-century with a single to mid-wicket, reaching 50 off 31 balls and acknowledging the applause with a raise of the bat. However, Nepal strike immediately after as Rohit Paudel delivers a very full ball outside off, and George Munsey attempts to loft it over cover but fails to get the elevation. Sundeep Jora takes a safe catch, sending Munsey back for 27 off 29. At the 10-over mark, Scotland are 80 for 1, with momentum slightly checked by that timely breakthrough.

That’s a massive over for Scotland, 17 runs off it and they surge past the 100 mark to 101 for 1. Michael Jones continues to anchor the innings on 56 off 35, while Brandon McMullen injects momentum with some crisp hitting, moving to 11 off 8. A six, a boundary, and even a streaky four byes in there, plenty happening, and Scotland are accelerating nicely heading into the middle phase.

Another tidy over for Scotland as they move to 118 for 1. Eight runs added with a mix of singles and a wide, keeping the scoreboard ticking. Michael Jones continues to hold the innings together, now on 64 off 41, pacing it well after his fifty. Brandon McMullen is settling in nicely too on 18 from 14, rotating strike and supporting the stand. Scotland are in a solid position heading into the final phase.

What an over from Sompal Kami, he’s turned the game on its head! Just three runs and two massive wickets as Scotland slip to 134 for 3. First, the big one, Michael Jones falls for a superb 71 off 45, beaten by a clever knuckleball that crashes into the leg stump just as he looked set to launch again. The Wankhede crowd then erupts moments later as Kami pulls off a stunning caught-and-bowled to remove Brandon McMullen for 25, plucking it out of the air in his follow-through. Two set batters gone in the same over and Nepal are right back in this contest heading into the final four overs.

Another twist in the tale! Scotland pick up 11 runs in the over, including a six, but lose Richie Berrington right at the end. Looking to accelerate, Berrington shuffled across and tried to go big against a wide delivery outside off, but only managed a toe-end down to long-on. Sundeep Jora did well, moving to his left and completing a neat sliding catch. Berrington departs for 10 off 6, and Scotland are now 145 for 4 after 17 overs. Nepal continue to chip away just as Scotland try to lift the tempo in the death overs.

Another wicket for Nepal as Scotland slip to 153/5 after 18 overs. Nandan Yadav nails a leg-stump yorker to bowl Matthew Cross as he attempts the scoop. Just eight runs from the over, and Scotland’s late-innings momentum continues to stall.

Sompal Kami delivers again! Just five runs off the 19th over and another crucial wicket as Scotland slip to 158 for 6. Kami outfoxes Tom Bruce with a clever back-of-the-hand slower ball that dips and sneaks through, clipping the off stump after brushing the pad. The crowd erupts once more as Nepal tighten the screws at the death. Scotland’s innings has lost serious momentum in the final overs.

Scotland finish on 170 for 7 after a lively final over that produced 12 runs. Nandan Yadav struck again, removing Michael Leask with a short ball that resulted in a top edge through to the keeper after a successful review. But Mark Watt ensured Scotland ended on a positive note, whipping a full delivery off his pads for a six over mid-wicket to close the innings in style. Despite losing wickets late, that late flourish pushes Scotland to a competitive total.

Innings Break

Nepal are off to a cautious start in the chase of 171 at the Wankhede Stadium. Openers Kusal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh have to give their team a good start if they want to chase the target comfortably.

Kusal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh took Mark Watts for 23 runs in the 5th over to give Nepal a sublime start in the run chase of 171. Both the batter are using the conditions well to their advantage.

That was a much-needed wicket for Scotland as Michael Leask sends the dangerous Kusal Bhurtel back to the pavilion after scoring 43 off 35 balls. Skipper Rohit Paudel joins Aasif Sheikh on the crease as Nepal still need 93 runs from 60 balls.

A tight over from Michael Leask brings a crucial breakthrough for Scotland. Just three runs come from it as Nepal move to 87 for 2 after 12 overs. Leask gets Aasif Sheikh with a full delivery outside off; attempting the slog sweep, Sheikh only manages a thick top edge that is safely taken by Brad Wheal at short third. Sheikh departs for 33 off 27, and Leask celebrates hard as Scotland regain control at a key stage. Dipendra Singh Airee is the new batter at the crease.

Michael Leask is ripping through the middle order here. Another superb over, just three runs and a key wicket, as Nepal slip to 100 for 3 after 14 overs. Rohit Paudel falls attempting the sweep, only to top-edge it under the lights where Michael Jones settles comfortably at deep backward square. Leask now has three wickets and has completely shifted the momentum.

What an over for Nepal! Twenty runs come off it and the momentum swings right back. Dipendra Singh Airee leads the charge with back-to-back sixes, taking the attack to the bowlers and racing to 26 off just 14 balls. Gulsan Jha chips in as well, and the boundaries keep flowing, including a four to finish the over. Nepal surge to 132 for 3 after 16 overs, and suddenly the chase is very much alive with the required rate under control.

Nepal are flying now! Thirteen runs from the over and they move to 156 for 3 after 18 overs. Dipendra Singh Airee is putting on a show, smashing a six and a four to race to 47 off just 20 balls, just three away from a stunning half-century. Gulsan Jha continues to support on 12 off 12, rotating strike when needed. The equation has tilted dramatically, Nepal are within touching distance and Scotland are under serious pressure heading into the final two overs.

Fifty for Dipendra Singh Airee! He gets forward and drives it out to sweeper cover for a single to bring up a superb half-century off just 23 balls. A composed yet explosive knock under pressure. He punches gloves with Gulsan Jha and has a quick word in the middle, Nepal edging closer with their star man leading the charge.

Nepal have done it. Gulsan Jha drives it away and that’s the winning boundary. History created, Nepal seal their first-ever win in a T20 World Cup. The dugout erupts, the crowd goes wild, and the players rush out to celebrate. Dipendra Singh Airee’s blistering knock, backed by contributions from Rohit Paudel and others, has powered a famous chase. This is a night that will be remembered back home, a landmark moment for Nepal cricket.

This is a night Nepal will never forget. A first-ever T20 World Cup win, sealed in front of passionate supporters at the Wankhede, unforgettable scenes. They’ve come close before, against South Africa and England, but tonight they finished the job. The partnership between Gulsan Jha and Dipendra Singh Airee changed everything, especially when 70 were needed off 35. Airee flipped the switch, launched into the bowlers, and turned belief into reality. The entire team now walks around the ground, soaking in the applause. A historic moment for Nepal cricket.

"First of all, I want to thank the fans who came from Nepal and supported us. That gives a lot of motivation to all of us. And in the last World Cup, we didn't win a single match. So that's why this win is very important for us. (is this one of your best days in your career?) Yeah, I think maybe it's one of the best innings for him, especially while chasing 50 off 23 is very good for him. (experience against England helped?) Yes, definitely. Because we learned a lot from this chase. And that experience is with us. And that helped us today. So thank you. This kind of chase always gives motivation to the group. And the last game against England has given us that few learning experience. So I think this game is very important for us. (only two dot balls in your innings, was that key?) "The atmosphere was incredible, always knew it would be a tough game against Nepal, with the crowd behind them. But full credit to Airee, he's changed the momentum of the game. 170 was competitive, they bowled extremely well but we left a few out there. Took one innings to change the game and get the result for Nepal. We've shown once again we can compete at this level, but there's some frustration there. We could have won a few more, but a lot to take forward as a team. Our preparation was very different to other teams but we embraced that. Would have liked a few more wins but pleased with some of the performances. It's been great that this has been a 20-team World Cup, shows more exposure and all these teams will only get stronger. Got to take every opportunity in front of us."

"This means a lot to me, my second World Cup as captain, and winning first game in last game of league stage was very important to us as a team. Dipendra led the way. After our game against England, they started booking tickets and supported us to the last game. To slow down and restrict them to 170, our death bowling was great. Focussed more on dot balls than taking wickets. This is not the way we wanted to play but with Dipendra and Gulshan, they won the game for us. Dipendra deserves MoM, he has great talent. We kept our nerves calm, bowlers and batters. We learned a lot from England game. To summarise this tournament, we wanted to play the way we did against England and Scotland. Italy was not the way we wanted to play. We will try to improve from here."
