Kota: Coaching Classes Install Spring-Loaded Fans To Prevent Suicides, Netizens Say Focus Should Be On Mental Health Instead

Rajasthan's entrance exams coaching hub Kota received huge backlash from the netizens for installing spring-loaded fans in an endeavour to prevent the recent surge in suicide cases, instead of focusing on the aspirants' mental health.

As per media reports, the fans are being installed in all hostels and paying guest (PG) accommodations in Kota to reduce suicide cases among students. 

Student suicides on the rise in Rajasthan's Kota

Rajasthan's educational hub Kota, which is known for housing the best coaching centers in country for NEET and JEE, this year witnessed an unprecedented increase in suicide cases. The Kota administration has shared concerns over the issue as well.

In the most recent incident, an 18-year-old student was found hanging at a rented accommodation in the city on Tuesday night which was the fourth student suicide reported in Kota this month.

This took the total number to 20 students who have died by suicide in Kota this year whereas, last year, at least 15 cases of suicide by students were reported.
