  • The top seam of the Jayarampur colliery got breached. A thin pillar (which was meant to separate one seam from the other) of the colliery collapsed.
  • Water started flowing downwards into Bagdihi colliery
  • As water seeped in, the miners rushed towards the lift but only 60 of them could catch it. 38 of them trapped in the water 400 feet below the surface.
