Umesh Pal's mother has thanked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for giving "justice" after gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's son was shot dead in a police encounter.

Asad Ahmad and Ghulam were killed this morning in a police encounter with UP Police's Special Task Force in Jhansi. They were both wanted in connection with the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal with a cash bounty of ₹5 lacs on each.

Thanking the chief minister, Pal's mother said, "I thank the Chief Minister who took such a decision. He gave punishment to the killers of his daughter's husband. It is justice. I expect that the Chief Minister will do good whatever he does. I express my gratitude to the Chief Minister who is like a fatherly figure."

Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya too on Thursday praised the killing of Asad Ahmad. “Congratulations to UP STF, this was the fate that killers of Shri Umesh Pal Advocate and the police personnel deserved,” his tweet in Hindi read.
