Harpreet Brar picked 3/26 before Liam Livingstone scored 49 not out off 22 as Punjab Kings eased past Sunrisers Hyderabad by 5 wickets. Get SRH vs PBKS highlights.
A new generation of historians are bringing the subject out of the shadow of Marx and Nehru, fulfilling its role of restoring civilisational pride among Indians.
The BJP, with its insistence on the purity of Hindu Rashtra, would sadly reduce the soaring generosity of their founding vision to the petty bigotry of majoritarian chauvinism.
Historiography under previous governments can, and should, be contested. But history that’s being rewritten under the present government is not merely to eulogise some leaders, but also, and more worryingly, to condemn several chapters of the past.
Punjab Kings outplayed Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets in the last league match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Sunday to end their campaign on a happy note. It was a fight of prestige between the two sides, who were already out of the playoff race, and PBKS came out on top on the match day. First, Harpreet Brar's 3/26 helped them restrict SRH at 157/8 before Liam Livingstone's 49 not out off 22 made mockery of the total at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Stand-in SRH skipper Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the toss and opted to bat first. The side kept losing wickets at regular intervals but a 58-run partnership off 29 balls between Washington Sundar and Romario Shepherd for the sixth wicket eventually propelled it to a good total. In return, Jonny Bairstow's 23 off 15 gave PBKS a flying start before Livingstone could completely close the doors on SRH. Get SRH vs PBKS highlights here. “… I wanted to finish on a good note today. I just tried to bowl in the right areas and I wanted to keep calm under pressure. I tried to work on my skills as much as possible. Felt good after getting his (Aiden Markram's) wicket. I got some turn and bounce on that ball, pleased that he got stumped. I am happy for Arshdeep (Singh), now that he will play for India. That is what every player dreams of, playing for their country one day. I need to improve on few areas before the next season. I have been away from home since 3-4 months, so I want to spend some time with my family.”
A FOUR over extra cover from Prerak Mankad and PBKS win the game by 5 wickets. They deserved to enter the playoffs, but their inconsistent performance in the season eliminated them from the race well before this game. Nevertheless, they won't mind to end their campaign with a win. On the other hand, SRH must be keen to look back and observe what went wrong for them in the season after five consecutive wins.
14.4 - Liam Livingstone hits a powerful shot over extra cover and that is the 1000th SIX of IPL 2022.
14.6 - SIX! Another one in the slot and Livingstone dispatches it in the stands over long-off. PBKS need 2 in 30.
PBKS 156/5 (15)
Jitesh Sharma departs after playing an entertaining knock of 19 runs off 7 balls. His innings included three FOURS and one SIX. PBKS need 25 more in 36 balls.
PBKS 133/5 (14)
Something for SRH to rejoice after a long time. Shikhar Dhawan has been cleaned up by Fazalhaq Farooqi. He departs on 39 off 32. PBKS need 46 in 45. It won't be tough for them from here. Or will it actually be?
PBKS 112/4 (12.3)
Brilliant bowling from Fazalhaq Farooqi. He kept mixing his pace in the over to keep both Shikhar Dhawan and Liam Livingstone guessing. Only six runs came off the over. PBKS need 55 in 54.
PBKS 103/3 (11)
Liam Livingstone was dropped early in the over but he kept going despite that and smoked Umran Malik for two consecutive SIXES. He literally made fun of the pacer in the over. What a sensational hitter he is!
PBKS 92/3 (9)
This is poor batting from PBKS. Now, Mayank Agarwal loses his wicket while trying to play a big shot. What is the need to search boundaries with risky shots when you need only around seven runs per over. Anyway, SRH won't mind it. It was a short ball from Washington Sundar and Mayank hit it directly into the hands of deep mid-wicket fielder Jagadeesha Suchith.
PBKS 71/3 (7.5)
6.4 - A short ball from Umran Malik has hit the ribs of Mayank Agarwal. The PBKS skipper first ran a single and now he is grimacing with pain at the other end. He is lying on the floor and physio has been called up. Let's hope it's not serious.
Play resumes. Good news is that Agarwal is back on his feet, ready at the non-striker's end.
PBKS 68/2 (7)
Umran Malik gets better of Shahrukh Khan. It was short-of-a-length ball with the mid-on fielder on the edge of the circle and Sharukh mishit it high in the air. Washington Sundar took some steps behind and took a good catch to end the innings of dangerous-looking Shahrukh, who scored 19 off 10 balls. Here is some respite for SRH.
PBKS 66/2 (6.3)
This is smart batting from Shikhar Dhawan. He stepped outside his crease twice on two balls and hit Jagadeesha Suchith for two SIXES. PBKS are aware the pitch might slow down later and hence they got most out of the powerplay. They need 96 more in 84 balls.
PBKS 62/1 (6)
Runs are coming easily for PBKS as their batters are taking some risks. This pitch may slow down later and that must be playing into the mind of PBKS batters.
PBKS 38/1 (4)
That's the end of Jonny Bairstow. He has been cleaned up by Fazalhaq Farooqi. It was bowled full but Bairstow wanted to pull it. The lack of judgement on the length of the ball saw the stumps of the English batter getting disturbed.
PBKS 28/1 (3)
1,5 - Washington Sundar had trapped Jonny Bairstow but Umran Mailk failed to take the catch. Bairstow created room for himself but Sundar smartly bowled the ball far from him on the off side. As a result, Bairstow edged it high in the air and Malik got underneath the ball before dropping it at first slip.
10 runs came off the over. PBKS 22/0 (2)
14 runs came off the first over of PBKS innings that was bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. It started with an edge off Jonny Bairstow's bat flying for a FOUR and ended with a FOUR on the last ball as well.
PBKS 12/0 (1)
SRH scored 58 runs off the final four over and that helps them get a really good total. The wicket is a bit sluggish and if SRH start well, pressure will be all over the PBKS batsmen. Second innings starts in a while...
19.3 - Nathan Elllis smartly bowled a slower bouncer to Washington Sundar and the latter lacked timing on his shot and hit the ball into the hands of short third man fielder Shikhar Dhawan. Sundar departs on 25 off 19.
19.4 - Another wicket for Ellis! Jagadeesha Suchith departs for a first-ball duck.
19.6 - A dot ball and run-out. Okay wait... It's a no-ball. That means we have still one ball remaining in this over and it's a free hit.
19.6 - Bowled! But since it's a free hit the batsmen ran a single on it. Crazy scenes! Nine runs came off the last over. SRH post 157/8.
Even Arshdeep Singh was not spared. Despite only three runs coming in the first three balls, Washington Sundar and Romario Shepherd managed to get 12 runs off the over. This is brilliant batting from the duo.
SRH 147/5 (19)
Kagiso Rabada leaked 19 runs in his fourth over. SRH are heading towards a good total. They have got 36 off the last two overs and need to keep going in the same manner.
SRH 135/5 (18)
17 runs came off Nathan Ellis' third over. First, Washington Sundar hit a FOUR and then Romario Shepherd hit a FOUR and a SIX. Can SRH continue the momentum? Kagiso Rabada comes to bowl the next over.
SRH 116/5 (17)
PBKS bowlers have been on the money since the start of this game. If they manage to restrict SRH under 140, they will be having an edge in this game. Last 24 balls of the innings coming.
SRH 99/5 (16)
Aiden Markram is gone! He is stumped out. It was bowled on good length from Harpreet Brar. He gave flight to the ball that saw it getting good turn off the surface and beat Aiden Markram. This is the third wicket for Harpreet tonight.
SRH 96/5 (14.4)
Nicholas Pooran is out! A kind of soft dismissal for him. As it was bowled full around off stump from Nathan Ellis and the Windies batsman threw his bat on it to get an edge. Jitesh Sharma comfortably took the catch behind the stumps. SRH are in trouble.
SRH 87/4 (13)
This is a good spell from Liam Livingstone. Despite bowling in the powerplay, he conceded only 25 runs in his complete quota of five overs.
SRH 83/3 (12)
Abhishek Sharma (43 off 32) is out! Harpreet Brar claims the wicket. It was a full length delivery and Abhishek hit it straight towards long-on where Liam Livingstone took a really good catch by timing his jump to perfection.
SRH 76/3 (10.3)
9.2 - SIX! Abhishek Sharma is playing beautifully. This pitch is not that easy to bat on but he is timing his shots with perfection. It was a short ball from Liam Livingstone and he dispatched it for a six.
SRH 71/2 (10)
This is the end of Rahul Tripathi. It was a poor ball from Harpreet Brar bowled on the pads of Tripathi but the latter hit it straight into the hands of short fine-leg fielder Shikhar Dhawan. Tripathi departs on 20 off 18.
SRH 61/2 (8.3)
It's an another good over from SRH's perspective. Abhishek Sharma hit Harpreeet Brar for a SIX in the over. SRH have got some momentum in the last two overs and they should continue it. This pitch is not a belter and set batsmen should take the responsibility of scoring quick runs.
SRH 52/1 (7)
5.4 - SIX! On the pads from Nathan Ellis and Rahul Tripathi is not going to miss it. He dispatches it comfortably in the stands over square leg.
5.6 - FOUR! How can Abhishek Sharma miss his boundary of this over. It was a short ball and Abhishek pulled it to left of mid-on fielder for a four. 11 runs came off the over.
SRH 43/1 (6)
Abhishek Sharma is play with a lot of maturity and managing to get a FOUR in every over. The scoring rate of SRH is 6.4. They should fire in the last over of the powerplay.
SRH 32/1 (5)
Arshdeep Singh is always so good with his line and length. He doesn't have a great pace but the discipline in his bowling makes him a special player. Six runs came off his second over.
SRH 24/1 (4)
Kagiso Rabada has got the wicket of Priyam Garg. It was a cross seam delivery bowled on the pads of Garg who played his shot early and got a leading edge to Mayank Agarwal at mid-off.

SRH 9/0 (2)
The last league game of IPL 2022 is set to start now. Priyam Garg takes the strike, Abhishek Sharma is at the non-striker's end. Spinner Liam Livingstone has the new ball in hand. Get set... Go!
One FOUR and a single came off the first over. Livingstone bowled good lines but he could have given more flight to the ball rather than trying to bowl fast.
SRH 5/0 (1)
