Poonam Dhillon has responded to allegations levelled by CINTAA General Secretary Upasana Singh amid an escalating dispute within the Cine and TV Artistes Association. Dhillon has rejected claims of financial irregularities and defended the association’s handling of funds, saying its records demonstrate transparency and accountability.

According to Deccan Chronicle, Dhillon said Upasana Singh’s allegations were “completely baseless and false”. She also maintained that every amount raised by CINTAA was properly accounted for and reached its intended beneficiary.
“Every penny raised is fully accounted for and reaches its rightful beneficiary,” Dhillon was quoted as saying. She added that no money was used for personal gain and that the association had “zero tolerance for anything illegal or unconstitutional”.
Senior Vice President Padmini Kolhapure also rejected the allegations. The funds raised by CINTAA were said to be handled responsibly and directed towards the people and causes for which they were collected. Kolhapure further maintained that the money was never diverted for personal use.
What Is Happening Inside CINTAA?
The latest exchange comes after 11 of CINTAA’s 21 Executive Committee members resigned earlier this month and called for fresh elections. The resignations were submitted to Upasana, who accepted them as General Secretary.
The members alleged that key decisions had increasingly been concentrated among Dhillon, Kolhapure and some other committee members. Concerns were also raised over how communications with government officials and industry bodies were being handled.
Upasana had separately alleged that disciplinary action was being taken against artistes who did not agree with the leadership. She also argued that CINTAA’s constitution requires the committee to be dissolved and fresh elections held when at least half its members resign.

Upasana also questioned the holding of an Extraordinary General Meeting after the committee had, according to her interpretation, already been dissolved following the resignations.
The dispute has now produced conflicting claims from both sides, with Dhillon and Kolhapure defending the association’s financial practices while Upasana continues to challenge the way CINTAA is being governed.
