Actor Sanjay Kapoor is currently seen in filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar’s action thriller ‘Bloody Daddy’. But did you know he was roped in for the project within six months of turning down a show of Ali Abbas Zafar since he wasn’t too keen to play the part he was offered.

Hinting at ‘Tandav’ season two, Sanjay told Indian Express that he always admired Ali as a filmmaker but he had to turn down the role for the second season of a show as he wasn’t convinced with the character. Despite saying no, Ali Abbas Zafar reached out to him again for ‘Bloody Daddy’.

“Ali was doing a web series that he wanted me to be a part of, it was the second season of a show, without taking names. I was excited to work with him, but I wasn’t excited with the role. He said my role in the third season would be fabulous. I said ab woh banega nahi banega, but at this juncture I am not too sure,” Sanjay said.

Sanjay further mentioned that it wasn’t an “easy decision” to say no to Ali. “Hats off to him, which is something of today’s directors, when he thought I was correct for this role in ‘Bloody Daddy’, he called me to his office to narrate. I thought it was so cool that here was a man I had said no to six months ago for something else but he was keen I be a part of his other project. When I was going to his office, I had my fingers crossed that I hope I love this role because I really wanted to be a part of this, just to work with this man who I admire a lot, as a filmmaker and a person,” Sanjay added.

Talking about turning down the part on the show Ali had offered him, Sanjay quipped, “He had no ego. First, I wanted to work with this talented director and then I realised he is a person who is also so grounded. I was honest with him; I was not beating around the bush.”

“I said I am not a superstar who will get away with it, it has taken me a long time to make this mark and I don’t want to take any wrong decision. I told him I want to work with him, but in a project where I have something meaty, something to offer. He understood my honesty. Everyone wants to work with talented and honest people.”

‘Bloody Daddy’, which is Shahid Kapoor, released last week on JioCinema.
