Pakistani Actress Ayesha Omar: I Don’t Feel Safe Here

Pakistani actress Ayesha Omar has spoken up during a podcast claiming that she doesn’t feel safe anymore while living in Pakistan. She has already been robbed twice in Karachi and she says she is constantly in fear of being mugged, kidnapped or raped when she is outdoors.

Pakistani actress Ayesha Omar has said in a recent interview during a podcast that she feels unsafe in the nation. She spoke of the dire conditions of women in the country and said that she didn’t feel her homeland was safe enough. Reports also claim that Ayesha Omar has already announced her decision to leave Pakistan.

While talking to Adnan Faisal, CEO of FHM Pakistan, during a podcast, Ayesha Omar said, “I don’t feel safe here [Pakistan]. I want to be able to walk on the road. It’s a basic human need to be able to walk outside in the open air. Isn’t it sad? I don’t want to sit in a car. I want to cycle. Why can’t I ride a bike?”

Ayesha Omar lives in Karachi and she reveals that she got robbed twice. She felt anxious about living in the city as she was unable to stay outdoors without any fear. She feels she could get mugged, kidnapped, and even raped if she is outdoors. “Crime happens in every country, but you can still go out and walk freely. I can’t even go to a park [in Pakistan] without being harassed,” said Ayesha Omar.

Ayesha Omar is one of the many actresses in Pakistan who have time and again spoken up about the condition of women in the country. She was being lauded by a section of society for speaking up about the issues of women in the country. However, when she spoke on this matter of feeling unsafe in the country, numerous people commented on the post asking her to leave the country.
