Mithun Chakraborty's mother Shantirani Chakraborty, passed away on Friday, June 6 as per reports. The news has been confirmed by Mithun's son Namashi and also the former's friend, Vijay Upadhyay.
Shantirani was suffering from medical issues and she was living with her son Mithun and his family in Mumbai.
Mithun's younger son Namashi Chakraborty confirmed the news of the death of his grandmother to Anandbazar Patrika. "Yes, the news is true. Grandma is no longer with us," said the actor.
Condolences are pouring in on social media for Mithun and his family.
For the unversed, Mithun Chakraborty's father Basantakumar Chakraborty passed away three years back due to kidney failure.

On the work front, Mithun was last seen in the film 'The Kashmir Files'. The actor has been shooting for Bengali reality show, ‘Dance Bangla Dance’ Season 12. The veteran actor returned to the show almost a decade.
