Actress Mimi Chakraborty is all set to make her OTT debut with Hoichoi's 'Jaha Bolibo Shotto Bolibo'. The courtroom drama series also stars Tota Roy Choudhury. Both Mimi and Tota are playing lawyers. Recently, we had a freewheeling conversation with Mimi where she spoke about her OTT debut, why she fits into the role, the advent of OTT and her journey in the Bengali film industry.

When asked why she chose to make her web series debut with 'Jaha Bolibo Shotto Bolibo', Mimi told Outlook India, ''I think the name of the show goes with me very well. I have always been a very non-diplomatic person, straight on the face and a lot of people like me for that and mostly dislike me for that too. But when I got it, somewhere I felt the connect and was really intrigued by the character as it was a lawyer's character. I was also a little skeptical because I had already played a lawyer in one of my prominent films and I was like 'should I do it or should I not?' but the script, the director and the team really convinced me to be part of it''.

Mimi started her acting career in television and then shifting to films. Reflecting on her journey in the industry, the Trinamool Congress MP said, ''I always liked whatever I did. One thing I would like to say is that when I started my career there was a division in the industry as in people used to say commercial actress and art film actress. There was a thin line between 'you are a commercial actor and an art film actor'. If you are an art film actor, the first question they will ask you is if you can dance and if you are a commercial film actress, they will ask you if you know how to act. That was the thing which was going on at that time and I always believed that this is taboo and we have to come out of this and I won't say that I have done a great thing or something like that. But I tried to do different genres, I tried to explore different things to my craft and people loved me and that is what I have achieved and I am still learning''.

Mimi also spoke about how with the advent of OTT, everything has become content-oriented and people want to see stories which are close to reality. She added, ''OTT is more like a real field where people are binging a lot and I think actors nowadays from different generations want to explore their art and craft through OTT platforms because movies are two hours but if your season does well, you can come with a lot of seasons and you have lots of scope and the best thing is that there is not hit or a flop as everything is about content''.
