The eighth season of ‘Koffee with Karan’ finally wrapped up this week, and as the chat show came to an end, Karan Johar hosted Sumukhi Suresh, Kusha Kapila, Danish Sait and Tanmay Bhat. They were also the jury for the Koffee awards, and together, they voted for some of the best moments and performances of the season.

As they started off, Karan admitted that he is Poo as he gave out the ‘best moment’ award from this season to Rani Mukerji and Kajol.

The rapid fire round, which is considered to be the most entertaining bit of the episode, was also one of the award categories. The ‘Best rapid fire’ award was shared by two celebrities – Saif Ali Khan and Ananya Panday. Karan called Ananya and she was surprised as she did not win the rapid fire round during her episode with Sara Ali Khan. “I’d like to thank a certain ‘boy Kapur’ for that,” Ananya said.

For the award for the ‘Best episode’ of the season, there were five episodes nominated, based on the highest rating episodes of the season. The episodes featuring Rani Mukerji-Kajol, Kareena Kapoor-Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty, Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone and Varun Dhawan-Sidharth Malhotra were in competition. According to the jury, Rani Mukerji and Kajol's episode was the best in the season.

Meanwhile, there was a special mention given to the episode featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, and they were given a special jury award. “In my history of Koffee with Karan, there has never been a moment where I felt so real. I felt like the cameras were not rolling and something truly came out, like it was cathartic for me in a weird way,” Karan said.

Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan won the ‘Best performance – male’ award. To announce Saif’s win, Karan called Kareena who started off by saying that she was going to ‘block’ Karan. Karan hurriedly said that this was about the Koffee awards which put Kareena at ease.

Also, Deepika Padukone’s appearance, which was described as “brave”, turned out to be the ‘Best performance – female’ of the season. In the end, Varun Dhawan won the ‘Best Koffee burn’ award of the season and he was honoured for calling Karan ‘Karan Johar ghar-tode’ and ‘Komolika’.
