Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film ‘Animal’ might have raked in moolah at the box office ever since its release, but the Ranbir Kapoor starrer has been slammed, time and again, for its misogyny and violence. Now joining several celebrities in criticising the film is none other than Kangana Ranaut.

In a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the actress put the responsibility on the audience for going to the theatres to watch ‘women beating films.’ She also called this trend ‘discouraging’, thereby hinting at a possible career shift in the coming years.

Reposting a fan’s tweet, which mentioned that her last film ‘Tejas’ is an ‘excellent movie’, Kangana mentioned that she failed to understand why the film did not do well, adding how ‘Karan Johar and gang are waiting to destroy her.’

Reacting to claims that her films are subjected to ‘paid negativity’, she slammed Ranbir Kapoor-starrer ‘Animal’ and wrote, “Paid negativity for my films is overwhelming, I have been fighting hard so far but even audiences are encouraging women beating films where they are treated like sex objects and asked to lick shoes.”

Not just that, the actress hinted at a possible career change, and added, “This is deeply discouraging for someone who has been dedicating her life for women empowerment films, might shift career in coming years, want to give the best years of my life to something worthwhile.”

Not to miss, in an interview with ABP, Kangana spoke on joining politics, and said that it’s a decision to be made by ‘the public and those in a position of power.’ She had said at the time, “I have such a beautiful job. But the world of politics is difficult. Art is a pure profession. Artists are blessed by Goddess Saraswati. And we all know how unforgiving the world of politics has always been. But if given the opportunity to serve my country and be selfless, I will definitely take it up. If my country needs me, I’m there.”

Kangana’s last film ‘Tejas’ was a box office failure. According to Sacnilk, the film collected only Rs 8.05 crore worldwide.

Before Kangana, Javed Akhtar too has shared how the success of films like ‘Animal’ is ‘dangerous.’
