Why a book on the art of grooming?
Over the years, I’ve helped groom girls and boys for pageants and as airline personnel. All that information has culminated in the book. It is the biggest thing I’ve done since Miss World.
What kind of work went into it?
I have spent every spare minute of the last 2.5 years writing it. It is a single-handed job, I have done the research, design, layout. I have access to the best in the world, so I clarified
all the technical details with experts.
The book goes into great detail. There is even a chapter on innerwear...
I just wanted to get into every aspect of grooming. I have tried to make it funny and readable with anecdotes from my life, like the instances where I have made an ass of myself!
Is the book basically for pageant aspirants?
No, it’s for every woman who wants to look good and better herself.
So it isn’t vain to worry about how you’re turned out?
The industry is such that everyone has to be well-prepared. Everyone is more conscious and conscientious than ever before.
Haven’t beauty pageants lost their aura?
I don’t think so.
There aren’t many books on grooming in India, are there?
Not just in India, even in the international market there are no books on grooming that cover every aspect in such detail.
Isn’t there so much stuff on grooming on the internet already?
There is a lot of information online, but most of it incorrect, which is frustrating.
What’s your fitness mantra?
All the exercises I have mentioned in the book are what I follow: yoga, lower back exercises, light weights.
Are you working on a film?
Yes, a film tentatively called Lorie, a true supernatural story, releases at year’s end.
