Deepika Padukone On Facing Backlash For 'Padmaavat', JNU And 'Pathaan' Controversies: I Don’t Feel Anything About It

Deepika Padukone is one of the most successful faces of Indian cinema, and has even made a mark for herself globally. But she has consistently found herself in the middle of some political storm, but according to the ‘Pathaan’ actress, she is completely unfazed by it. 

For the unversed, Deepika first got backlash for her film Padmavat, in which she essayed the role of Queen Padmavati. The film’s name was then changed to ‘Padmaavat’ from ‘Padmavati’ after it allegedly disrespected the sentiments of Rajputs. She then was targeted for attending a students’ protest in Jawaharlal Nehru University in January 2020. Earlier this year, she was yet again embroiled in a controversy over her song ‘Besharam Rang’ from Shah Rukh Khan-led ‘Pathaan’.

Now, Deepika, who is featured in the Time cover, opened up on these controversies, and the constant political backlash against her. And she said, “I don’t know if I’m supposed to feel something about it. But the truth is, I don’t feel anything about it.”

Meanwhile, Deepika was recently part of the blockbuster ‘Pathaan’, which smashed all box office records by earning more than Rs 542 crore on the domestic box office, Moving ahead, she has the sci-fi action ‘Project K’, co-starring Prabhas and ‘Pathaan’ director Siddharth Anand’s next, ‘Fighter’, with Hrithik Roshan.

The actress will also play a special appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s next, ‘Jawan’.
