Hotstar has finally unveiled the trailer for the Indian remake of ‘The Night Manager’, starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala. It is based on the British spy series of the same name, which featured Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman and Elizabeth Debicki.

Anil Kapoor is seen playing the role of an arms dealer Shelly Rungta, a character played by Laurie in the British version. On the other hand, Aditya will play the titular Night Manager Shaan, based on the character Jonathan Pine, a role originally played by Hiddleston.

The trailer starts with Aditya’s character, who finds himself stranded in the middle of a snowy region. He is heard talking about entering the ‘depths of darkness’. Next up, we see a cigar-smoking Shelly, who thinks the Indian authorities can never catch him. However, Tillotama Shome’s character gets Shaan on board, and thinks of him as the ‘Vibhishan’ who will destroy Shelly’s Lanka. Shaan poses as the night manager at a hotel to gain Shelly’s trust. And thus, they kick off their tale of cat and mouse, and play a dangerous game of love and betrayal.

The original Night Manager was helmed by Sussanna Bier and was based on the novel by John le Carré.

The Indian version also stars Tillotama Shome, Saswata Chatterjee and Ravi Behl. It is created and directed by Sandeep Modi, with Priyanka Ghosh serving as co-director. It will be released on February 17 on Hotstar, and will mark Anil Kapoor’s web debut as well.
