'The Kerala Story', which has been written and directed by Sudipto Sen, stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani. The film got into controversy after the trailer of the film stated that 32,000 girls from the state went missing and later joined the terrorist group, ISIS.

But despite that, the film started off its second week in the cinema halls on a high. If it keeps the pace, it would be the second highest-earning Bollywood film of 2023 after ‘Pathaan’, and is only a few crores away from taking over the second spot from ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’.

As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “#TheKeralaStory is not slowing down soon… Hits double digits on [second] Mon, HIGHER than [first] Mon - ₹ 10.03 cr… All set to cross ₹ 150 cr today [second Tue]… [Week 2] Fri 12.35 cr, Sat 19.50 cr, Sun 23.75 cr, Mon 10.30 cr. Total: ₹ 147.04 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice”

Not to miss, as per numbers, the film’s second Monday was even better than the first Monday, and the film is all set to inch closer to Rs 150 crore mark.

Adah Sharma, plays the role of Fathima Ba, a Malayali Hindu nursing student, who goes missing from Kerala and is recruited to the ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) after being lured to convert to Islam. Talking about the film’s controversy, she said, "We should also honour the censor board who passed the film and the supreme court. Those who want to ban the film, if they watch it they might realise the film speaks against terrorism and they might decide to increase the screenings and show the film to more young girls."
