'Kalki 2898 AD': Prabhas, Deepika Padukone Starrer Release Date Announced With A New Poster

Prabhas starrer 'Kalki 2898 AD' finally gets a release date. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone in key roles.

Prabhas starrer 'Kalki 2898 AD' is one of the most-awaited movies of the year. After postponing the release date several times, the makers today, on January 12 announced 'Kalki 2898 AD's release date. The Nag Ashwin directorial also starring Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone, is releasing in theatres on May 9, 2024. The makers also dropped a new poster of Prabhas alongside the release date. 

Amitabh Bachchan shared the poster of Prabhas on social media handles with the caption, ''The story that ended 6000 years ago. 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟗𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒. The future unfolds. #Kalki2898AD(sic)''.

''The countdown to the future has begun! #Kalki2898AD in theatres worldwide on 9th May 2024,'' wrote the 'Baahubali' actor sharing his poster.

The science fiction will be released in two parts; the first instalment releasing in 2024. The movie is produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. It has been simultaneously shot in Telugu and Hindi. The music of the film has been scored by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography is done by Djordje Stojiljkovic and Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao has done the editing. 

'Kalki 2898 AD' is said to be made on a whopping budget of Rs 600 crore. It is set to release in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English.

Earlier, there were reports that the film is similar to ‘Star Wars.’ Nag Ashwin, at an event held at IIT Bombay last year, answered a question by a student who asked, “Will the film be India’s Star Wars? Are you planning to build an entire universe around it?”

He replied, “I don’t think so…this will be India’s K. It’s India's Project K, India's Kalki. It's one film and I think that’s enough.” He also revealed that the trailer for the mythological film will be unveiled on April 1, 2024.
